Scott A. Severt was raised in West Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Drake University in Des Moines and graduated with a degree in Biology. He later attended graduate school at The Institute of Environmental and Human Health at Texas Tech University, where he received his Master’s degree in Environmental Toxicology. His research focused primarily on wildlife exposure to explosives and solid rocket fuel components. While attending graduate school, Mr. Severt co-authored several papers published in various toxicology and chemistry journals. Mr. Severt then attended Texas Tech University Law School, where he served on the Texas Tech Law Review. He graduated in 2008.

Mr. Severt joined Stevens, Love, Hill and Holt in 2010. His practice consists of patent and personal injury litigation.
